The Integrative Nutrition Health Coach Training Program
Online learning from anywhere in the world.

For the first time ever, you can experience Integrative Nutrition right where you live. Get certified as a health counselor and start a new career, from your own home.

Same great program in a flexible format.
For 20 years, people have travelled from across the globe to attend IIN’s Health Coach Training Program in New York City. Over the years, they received countless requests from people who wanted to participate in their health coach training program, but were not able to travel to New York. So they committed to making their program accessible to everyone with a passion for health and wellness and the desire to become an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. The program is taught in partnership with the State University of New York Purchase College and the school is licensed by the New York State Education Department.

Flexible online course learning
How did they do it? They loaded lectures from world-class nutrition experts onto a customized iPod and their Online Education Forum (OEF) to create their specialized online nutrition school. Now you can take the core curriculum from the world’s largest nutrition school everywhere you go—in the car, to the gym, on an airplane—the sky is the limit!

How it works
Getting Started: As soon as you enroll, you’ll receive a welcome package that includes your iPod, books, DVDs and handouts. You’ll have access to the OEF where you can introduce yourself to students and staff, and start learning with Fundamentals classes, which will introduce you to the curriculum and online course. You will also have your personalized website to customize, Focus Classes to listen to, and over 100 different dietary theories to discuss on the OEF.

If possible, completing the Fundamentals classes before the modules start is ideal. It will help you to be prepared and assimilate the new information much faster and on a deeper level.

Modules and the iPod: The bulk of your online nutrition curriculum will be structured into 40 modules, and the first module will be released on the OEF on your official program start date. You will use the iPod alongside the modules on the OEF. You’ll listen to audio and video on your iPod, while the OEF contains assignments, downloadable handouts, powerpoints, additional resources, online discussions closely moderated by IIN staff.

iPod audio and video are led by world-famous guest speakers, and Integrative Nutrition Founder Joshua Rosenthal. As you progress through the health coach training program, Joshua will weave together the various theories of the guest speakers, showing you how to apply the concepts in your own life and with your clients.

Each module will take approximately 3 hours to complete. Approximately 1 module will be released per week on the OEF throughout your program.

Tests: After each set of 10 modules, there will be a test that focuses on the content of the 10 modules you have just completed. You will take a total of 4 tests.

Open Sessions: Once a month, you will have the opportunity to join an open session led by staff from Integrative Nutrition. You can ask questions, discuss your online course experience, get support, hear the experiences of other students, and be inspired and motivated by your community of peers. Because IIN students are geographically dispersed, and because IIN wants to provide you with extra support, they have created these optional live open sessions which they know you will enjoy and benefit from greatly.

Health Coaching Sessions: When you enroll, you’ll select your personal health coach who will counsel you one-on-one throughout the year. Your coach is your advocate for success. All coaches are graduates of the program, so they’ve been in your shoes. Sessions are 50 minutes long, and they take place over the phone. You are free to use the time for building your business, working on personal health issues and getting more direction for your studies.

Why Choose Integrative Nutrition

Many of IIN’s prospective students are sure that they want to study nutrition, but they’re not sure whether to pursue a traditional Registered Dietitian program, or a certificate program that takes less time and costs less money. Choosing the right nutrition school is an important decision. See what makes IIN different from other nutrition programs.

Get the tools to start your career as a Health Counselor.

The Integrative Nutrition health coach training program teaches a wide variety of skills in business, counseling, nutrition and lifestyle choices. You’ll learn how to work with clients in a one-on-one setting, run group programs and workshops in settings such as corporations, spas, health clubs, doctors’ offices, schools and more.

The program covers cutting-edge and holistic nutrition concepts along with modern health issues that you won’t always find in a traditional nutrition program. Topics include, but are not limited to:

Nutrition Concepts

Bio-individuality
No one diet works for everyone. Integrative Nutrition explores different ways of eating in order to create a personalized approach that is appropriate for the individual depending on their age, health, activity level, where they live, personal tastes and preferences.

Primary Food
We are fed not only by food but by other factors in our lives. Healthy relationships, regular physical activity, a fulfilling career and a spiritual practice can fill your soul and satisfy your hunger for life.

Deconstructing Cravings
Many people believe cravings are a problem, but cravings play a critical role in understanding what the body needs. You will learn why people desire certain foods, like chocolate, French fries and coffee and when to give into these cravings.

IIN Food Pyramid

Crowding Out
Most nutrition experts give their clients a list of foods to avoid, which explains why so many people are turned off by nutrition. Crowding out adds more healthy food to your diet rather than cutting back on the foods you enjoy.

Energetics of Food
All food has distinct qualities and energetic properties that affect your body depending on where, when and how it’s grown and prepared. The program discusses different foods and how growing conditions affect the way you feel.

Food/Mood Connection
Scientific research and personal experience both demonstrate that what we eat affects how we think, feel and act. Integrative Nutrition will give you the tools so you can deconstruct why you feel a certain way after eating a certain food.

Superfoods
Certain foods are powerful enough to help you lower cholesterol, reduce your risk of heart disease and cancer, and improve your mood. You will learn about the powerful, antioxidant rich fruits, vegetables and whole grains that will boost your health and improve your mood.

Nutrition Science

You’ll review science and anatomy to gain an understanding of how our bodies function and why certain dietary habits work and don’t work for individuals. You’ll learn about:

  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Blood sugar & glucose
  • Digestive system
  • Toxins
  • Thyroid health
  • Genetic influence on diet
  • Metabolism

Modern Health Issues

American Health Crisis
Rates of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease continue to increase. We spend an exorbitant amount of money on medications and operations and virtually nothing on prevention, education and holistic health. Learn how you can help reverse this trend.

Food Corporations
Food corporations are big business; the fast food and restaurant industries generate billions of dollars in annual sales. Learn how companies spend their advertising dollars to influence the public to buy their products.

Government Policies
Why are unhealthy foods cheaper than healthy foods? Learn about government subsidies, campaign contributions and the pros and cons of the USDA food pyramid.

Hypoglycemia
Literally meaning, “low glucose levels in the blood,” this condition is a precursor to diabetes. A poor diet can cause a breakdown in the body’s ability to manage blood glucose, causing a rollercoaster effect on energy.

Organic vs. Non-Organic Foods
Discover the difference between organic and non-organic commercially raised produce and how both methods affect your overall health.

Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are prevalent in America today with many types of eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, compulsive eating disorder and orthorexia nervosa.

School Food
School food has long been blamed as the number one cause of childhood obesity. It’s no wonder with the vending machine candy bars and processed food. You will learn about the different programs being developed in schools and how you can make a difference.
